A sunny, wintry school-vacation day, perfect for my daily park excursion. Slept in a bit, got out in the garden this morning for an hour, put in a good afternoon's work at the old desk, still on a self-congratulatory roll from yesterday's bike ride in the park. The park...oh, heck, the park! I rushed to the window, and it was already dusk (but not pitch-dark by 6, a good sign). It was also bitterly cold, with a stiff wind blowing up. Blew it.
Took this picture of the sun's last rays behind the park's treeline, seen from our top-floor bedroom window (which receives the full brunt of winter's gales and the full delights of summer breezes). Night would just have to fall without me in the distant kingdom beyond the front porch.
How many times do we let ourselves get into terrible situations because we don't say, "I forgot"? Let's say you're on trial for armed robbery. You say to the judge, "I forgot armed robbery was illegal." Let's suppose he says back to you, "You have committed a foul crime. You have stolen hundreds and thousands of dollars from people at random, and you say, 'I forgot'?" Two simple words: Excuuuuuse me!!"
