No park walk yesterday, or post--bad blogger! Here is a bouquet of apology: the exuberant carving on the massive stone planters in Prospect Park's Concert Grove. Talk about "they don't make 'em like that anymore."
There's a vegetation-themed motif on some (I can make out sunflowers, pineapples and pomegranates along with more fanciful botany).
And then there's the "Dead Trophies from Land and Sea" motif. I can make out ducks and perhaps a pigeon, but what is that with the long curving bill, a snipe?
Team In Training Update: Spin class is going great; I actually have begun to remember a time when I enjoyed the way my body felt during exertion. We practice "hill climbing" by standing on the pedals and upping the resistance of the standing bike, which rapidly reduces my legs to quivering heaps; I find it helpful to imagine I am climbing the hill in Prospect Park and using terrible R-rated language at it. I am doing this so you will give some money to a magnificent cause; to find out more, go here.
