Eternal sunshine of the spotless kind
It's a cliche to describe the sky as a dome, but in the Long Meadow, that's exactly how it feels, especially in this kind of September sunshine, which seems to intensify as we edge closer to the autumn.
At the edge of the meadow, a wooded path beckons into cooler and shadier realms.
On the "forest" floor, some litter (and piles of charcoal briquets--people, don't dump these, please!), but also some treasures: horse chestnuts, little white mushrooms, and a leaf from a tulip tree.
Gosh, I hate to be technical here, but that chestnut looks like a native buckeye. Note the smooth husk. Horse chestnuts have spiky husks. We have many more horse chestnut trees in the city, but there are some yellow and red buckeyes lurking about.
